Judges Comments:

From one of our oldest wineries in New Zealand, planted in 1898. Renowned pioneer winemaker Tom McDonald commenced working at the winery at 14 years old and by 19 he was in charge. Tom became famous for producing New Zealand's first Cabernet Sauvignon and pioneering modern winemaking. The winery is now well-known for producing award-winning Chardonnays – this wine has aromas of stone fruit, citrus and smoky oak. The taste is delicious with layers of flavour including fig and toasted nuts along with a creamy citrus finish.

Pairing Recommendation:

A super versatile wine that enhances all sorts of foods from the Sunday roast, pot-luck dinners, Mexican dishes, burger and ribs, pizza and pasta, as well as light lunches and of course picnics. Perfect with chips and dips, antipasti, pre-dinner nibbles and cheese.
