When it comes to peanut butter, we're not very crunchy. Instead, most of us enjoy a smoother spread.

Boiled, fried or mashed? We're loving them! We enjoyed more potatoes than kūmara last year.

Mayo who? In the battle of the condiments, shoppers stayed true to the iconic T-Sauce. Just!

We're full of beans.

It was a close one, but we opted for baked beans over spaghetti when we were craving a quick and delicious snack.

We're well-cured

Feeling a little fancy last year? When it came to our cold cut of choice, we sided with salami over ham.

We're cultured

Our motto is 'life's too short to eat boring yoghurt'. Last year, shoppers chose flavoured over plain yoghurt.

Milking it?

Moooove over, plant milk. Last year, we were true dairy lovers.

We're pretty tasty

In the opinion of New World shoppers, Tasty is the best cheese on the block! We picked up more of it than Colby last year.

We're berry nice

We're never feeling blue... only blueberries. Compared to cherries, they were New World shoppers' fruit of choice.

We're buzzed

Most of us reached for more coffee than tea last year. Were we getting up early, or staying up late?

2023 Trolley Truths

Made possible by heaps of spreadsheets and loads of Clubcard scans

There are questions the nation needed answering. Like whether smooth or crunchy peanut butter is really the crowd favourite? And does anyone actually like Licorice Allsorts? To answer these, the only option was a “super scientific experiment”. So we set up a whole load of spreadsheets and wrote a whole lot of code, all powered by loads of Clubcard scans from 1 November 2022 to 31 October 2023. 

So New Zealand, make sure you keep scanning your Clubcard to keep saving on the products you love, earning great rewards and learning strange facts like these: turns out shoppers do actually like Licorice Allsorts… a lot actually. Who knew?
