Glad to read back from you. I'm not good at the moment that's why i need your help. I had to make an unplanned trip to Manila,Philippines due to an urgent family call to help my sick cousin, she was diagnosed with (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) and has been undergoing treatment lately. The chemotherapy treatment was going fine until last week when the doctor noticed that the disease has relapsed and the only way she can survive is by undergoing a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplantation). The hospital management has demanded for a deposit of $11,450 NZD before they can carry out the operation to save her life and I traveled down here with little money because I never expected things to be the way it is right now. Wondering if you could assist me with a loan of $1,650 NZD or any amount you can afford. I promise to refund it in full as soon as i return home. Please let me know if you can be of any assistance. Justine

Scam Update - January 2019

Retail NZ is warning consumers not to get sucked in by scam surveys offering great prizes in return for a small postage fee.

Retailers are reporting that some customers are receiving fake texts or social media messages asking them to complete a survey, following which they are able to claim a great prize in exchange only for a postage fee. However, these messages are scams, and any customer providing credit card details to scammers is likely to find themselves out of pocket,” says Greg Harford, Retail NZ’s General Manager Public Affairs.

While retailers do sometimes offer prizes and incentives to participate in research, a reputable retailer will never ask a customer to pay to receive a prize. Any consumer receiving an invitation to participate in such a survey should immediately delete the email and, if there’s any doubt, they should check in with the retailer concerned.

“If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Customers need to be very careful about who they provide information to, and it’s never a good idea to give your credit card details to any website, unless you are actually buying something from a reputable and recognised retailer.”
